On Sunday, May 25, the congregation of Faith Lutheran Church, 1700 St. Andrews Way, Eldersburg, said farewell to Pastor Jim Bloker and his wife, Mabelle. Pastor Bloker was welcomed into fellowship as an intentional interim pastor in an installation ceremony on January 29, 2006. Since that time, under his shepherding, the congregation has grown in membership, ministries, fellowship, and faith. The service concluded with the praise team singing “Friends” as a slide show depicting the many activities in which Pastor and Mabelle were involved was shown. The celebration continued with a picnic luncheon on the church grounds.
Pastor Bloker is a graduate of the University of Richmond and Concordia Seminary in Ft. Wayne, IN. He has served as a pastor, mission developer, and mission teacher. Having accepted the divine call to serve as an Ablaze (a mission to reach 100 million unchurched with the Gospel by 2017) Developer for the Eurasian field, he and Mabelle will be stationed in the Czech Republic. They will both be missed, and the congregation wishes God’s guidance and protection in their new ministry. |
