MATT STOVER VISITS FLC

On Saturday, May 12 over 200 people sat on chairs and the grassy grounds of Faith Lutheran Church, 1700 St. Andrews Way, Eldersburg to meet and  hear Baltimore Ravens’ star kicker, Matt Stover.  Matt delivered a powerful  message to his audience.  His dream had always been to be a professional     football player.  That dream came true in 1990 when he was drafted by the  New York Giants.  He gained fame, money, and material possessions.  But  there was a void.  He was not at peace.  On February 18, 1992, after missing  three field goals as a member of the Cleveland Browns, he turned his life  over to God.  Failure became success.  Matt gave all control to God to use  him as He willed and his career has been blessed.  From 1993 to now,  Matt has the record of being the most accurate kicker in the NFL.  His  personal relationship with Jesus gave him the peace, the purpose, the fulfillment he so sought through what the world had to offer and those days when it was “all about me.”  Now it was all about God, his teammates, and others.  This was Matt’s message.  It was his invitation to join him in a life of contentment and blessings, even during times of hardship.  Following the talk, Matt answered questions from the audience and signed autographs for all who requested them.  There was also a drawing for a NFL replica  football and a Ravens T-shirt, both autographed by “Matt Stover.”  You can learn more about Matt Stover by visiting the website, www.thegoal.com and his charitable foundation website, www.mattstoverfoundation.org.
